When you \"Twitch\" the Squirrel, with short jerks of the tip, it performs a swimming action which its designer has named \"Squirming\", which is expressed, in particular, when the lure hits or unhooks from an obstacle.
This particularly attractive frenetic squirming results in an off-axis swim with unpredictable movements very similar to that of fleeing prey.
